The Four Day School Week

  1. Melissa says:

This is so interesting! I would love if my school did this! Do you think this affects middle and high school sports games/practices much? Like are students more tired because school went later so practice was later?

  2. I could definitely see all the benefits you mentioned above in a four-day district. What does your daily schedule looks like?
    Great post!

  3. Anonymous says:

The district I am working for now is on a four day schedule and has been for three years. It was glorious. I had Friday to prep and still had a weekend with my family. I missed two days in the three years we had the four day schedule. Sadly, the school board voted to go back to five day regardless of parent, teacher, and student surveys favoring the four day. The data showed money saved, improved attendance by students and teachers, and no adverse effects to test scores. As a result of this change, many teachers are leaving. It was great while it lasted!

  4. Shannon says:

Could you email me this article? Our district is going throughvmoney issues. Would like to share with board.

  5. Hannah Smith says:

What did this do to teacher pay? I’m so curious if teachers are working less days or they’re just spread out more?

  6. An impressive share, I just given this onto a colleague who was doing a little analysis on this. And he in fact bought me breakfast because I found it for him.. smile. So let me reword that: Thnx for the treat! But yeah Thnkx for spending the time to discuss this, I feel strongly about it and love reading more on this topic. If possible, as you become expertise, would you mind updating your blog with more details? It is highly helpful for me. Big thumb up for this blog post!
