This classroom economy system is designed to be simple, stress-free, and fun. After modeling and initial creation, the resource will take seconds to effectively use the economy in your (very limited on time) classrooms.
In my middle school ELA classroom, I give student their money money, they add it to their balance, and give me the money back almost immediately. The system allows them to purchase items as soon as they are done with their Bell Ringers.
This isn’t so much a classroom management strategy (although I definitely give out money to recognize positive behavior) so much as it is a way to get students to write checks and balance checkbooks. And honestly, middle schoolers LOVE food so much, so I wanted a way for them to have access to that in my classroom.

Print out checks, checkbooks, and balance/recording sheets for students.

Have students create checkbooks and show them where to store them (our go in envelopes we glue in their notebooks), and then have them practice adding and taking aways money.

Explain your system for what they should do when they want to purchase something and then the rest of the year, you and students are good to go.
