Right now you are purchasing 8 reading units for 20% savings. My 5th Grade Bundle has 13 units, so this bundle can get HUGE… Which is great for you!
This bundle includes 8 different reading units/novels studies for a total of 100+ lesson plans using high interest and engaging 7th ad 8th grade novels.
These units are exactly what you need to teach your middle school learners in a fun and engaging format with a variety of novels.
I am at a school that doesn’t have a reading or writing curriculum and I have created these units to meet the rigor of the new standards. These units teach your students about EVERY SINGLE 7th and 8th grade literature standard and EVERY SINGLE writing main standard in engaging, though-provoking, and fun units and all the work is done for you.
I was introduced to the “Socratic Seminar” and I fell in love after I saw this method in practice, and I think you will too! You can use these lessons as your reading lessons to teach (and dig deep) into every single CCSS reading literature standard for sixth grade.
I still do guided reading, book clubs, literature circles, and Daily 5 in my classroom, so I know this can work with any type of reading program that you already have in place. These could even be used as a class novel study for read aloud.
In these units, your students will get tons of support and conversations from their peers, will be exposed to literature and vocabulary at or above their grade level, and become part of a reading community. Yet it still gives you the flexibility to work with groups of students at their particular reading levels. I’m telling you, it’s a game changer.
In each unit you will find:
1. Using this resource in your classroom
2. Classroom decorations, activities, and engagement ideas (if applicable)
3. The Socratic Seminar: research base and strategy in practice
4. Teaching vocabulary with novel studies
5. Different reading workshop set-ups
6. Scripted lesson examples
7. Reading response notebook examples from my classroom
8. Common Core standard alignment
9. Lesson plans
10. Reading response rubrics
