These bell ringers were designed to be stress-free, print-free, and prep-free so students can be 100% independent and get to work right away while teachers have time to take attendance and get ready for each class period.
 
Here’s what you’ll get:

  2. Editable PowerPoint version to be displayed while students complete their work in a composition notebook. No prep and no copies. Teachers can adjust directions and content as needed.
  3. Editable Google Slides Version. Adapted instructions and slides for students to complete all work in Google Classroom.
 
Prep is quick and easy… Just display the bell ringers or assign them in your digital classroom. Students will write their daily work in a notebook or type right into their Google slides.
 
Your students will love knowing exactly what to do when they enter class and you’ll love that you’ll finally have time to take attendance because students will be 100% independent. They’ll easily get to work and learn important ELA concepts each day.
 
All of these bell ringers are based on the seventh and eighth-grade reading and language common core standards and concepts. Each day gives enough information for students to be able to review or learn as they work so you aren’t spending that precious time trying to teach new concepts.
 
Three weeks of the following bell ringers are included:
  • Monday: Vocabulary Word of the Week: Students write, define, break up, use the word in a sentence and illustrate a CCSS literary device vocabulary word or CCSS vocabulary word. Based on the CCSS 7-8 standards.
  • Tuesday: Grammar Skill of the Week: Students correct a grammatically incorrect sentence based on the CCSS 7-8 language standards.
  • Wednesday: Root or Affix of the Week: Students write the root or affix, the meaning, andthree examples, and draw pictures for each example. Selected from grades 7-8 most used affixes and roots.
  • Thursday: Foreign Phrase of the Week: Students learn a new foreign phrase each week that is used in the English language. Students learn the word, its origin, and meaning, then use it in an English sentence and draw an illustration.
  • Friday: Quote of the Week: Students read a quote and write what the quote means to them or makes them think of. Many quotes chosen from 7-8 grade popular/award-winning novels or inspirational role models.
